She sings, talks to, pleads the child to go to sleep during the day for she can also go to snooze land briefly. When the opportunity arises, she is wide awake with the eyes fixated on the baby, nose existing only to take in baby's sweet smell and ears tuned to the rhythm of breathing

55er : what goes around comes around
Sumathy decided to seek the guidance of the temple priest to
help bring in peace in her family. The priest asked her to perform tulasi pooja
for 28 weeks. On the way home, she suddenly remembered how she disregarded an
elderly woman’s plea to train her dog to not to pee on the tulasi plant.

children board the school bus, Shantha felt she had forgotten what it was like
to go to school. After a long Christmas break ,she was getting ready to go to
work and had an unusual feeling the whole morning. That's when she realized she
felt like a child who HAS to go to school .

55er : Grass is always greener on the other side
Chella’s interview for the US job lasted 7 months and she thought
universe was giving wings to her desire of living abroad: which remained just
a dream having married to Ganapathy immediately after graduation. All her excitement spiraled downwards when
the offer letter came . Ganapathy wondered why Chella was sulking inspite
of achieving her goal.

Manonmani longed whenever she saw pictures of friends posing
in Disneyland,LasVegas,Hollywood studios or the gorgeous trekking locations in the US. After 10 years,
when she went to the US, she complained of not having maids , the biting cold
in winters, child-care duties without a break and the need to be employed to
live there!
-----
Both the above incidents based on real life scenarios encountered by two of of my colleagues. We long for something, but the happiness that we get from achieving the goal or the contentment that we derive when our dreams materialize seem to be so fleeting.

Gift : 55-er
He hesitated to be seen by his extended family with the bouquet she gifted him. Few years on, she
was greeted to V-day wishes by him over long distance call and mentioned that
he retained the T-shirt she gave her long ago just so that he can release it
today and feel her presence .
Happy Valentine's Day , everyone! May Love spread in our hearts and homes :)

55-er : Familiar sound..
With traces of mehendi still in her palms, she takes the sights
of children waiting for school bus, joggers on the road and clear morning sky. She
realizes how much she has gelled at her “new home” when she identifies the whistle from the cooker in her kitchen
among other whistles coming from neighboring houses.

Do your duty, rest will follow? : 55 er
Shiva is an asset to the team,
but is neither rewarded nor recognized fairly by the management. He gets
frustrated at times, but thrives on hope. In the quarterly all hands meeting,
when his name was announced to receive an award for Excellent collaboration ,
the room was filled with thunderous claps for 2 minutes
The above is a true account of what happened in my organisation last week. This person works in my team and he is one of the few dedicated , thorough, hard-working colleagues that I have come across. But, at the same time, he is one who strictly follows: never-say-a-word even if you are asked to finish a month's work in a week's time motto. Now, things are beginning to change, albeit slowly..Such happenings give a ray of hope that things do change, even if the pace is very very slow, things do change for good once in a while and it is with this hope that people like me hold on to.

55-er, My first!
The joy of cooking for her husband and child overtakes the need to snooze the 6AM alarm .The door bell rings and she attends the dhobiwala.
The dhobiwala counts the clothes reminiscing the pre-baby days when the MIL used to ask him to come later with the answer "She is STILL sleeping" at 8AM.
